EVER wondered what Marilyn Monroe or Elvis’s last words were, or what the final meal of a condemned prisoner tastes like?

A unique new show at the SJT, The Last Supper, aims to help you find out.

Part performance, part meal, The Last Supper is an intimate dinner, on-stage in The Round auditorium, for 39 guests who will hear the last words and thoughts of the departed and be served a mixture of dishes.

It’s been performed worldwide including in the UK, across Europe and Australia, and praised by critics including The Guardian’s Lyn Gardner, who said: “There is something about the simplicity of this show that is unbearably moving”, and the Sydney Morning Herald’s Cameron Woodhead, who called it ‘rigorous experimental performance that will leave you overstimulated, a bit baffled and oddly moved’.

It’s presented by Anglo-Belgian company Reckless Sleepers, which has been producing contemporary performances for over 20 years. The company creates original theatre pieces, installation projects and interventions for theatres, galleries, museums, site and seasonally-specific projects that both entertain and challenge audiences, viewers and participants.

Collaborating with a company of artists specialising in different art forms, Reckless Sleepers produces works that place ideas at the centre of the process, that are installed rather than presented, and that embrace mistakes.

The Last Supper can be seen at the SJT at 6pm and again at 8.30pm on Sunday, February 14, s part of this year’s annual Scarborough arts festival, Coastival.

Tickets are £12.50; please contact the box office on 01723 370541, or visit the website: www.sjt.uk.com
