A TREAT for all jazz and blues aficionados takes place at Pickering Memorial Hall tomorrow (Thursday).

Accomplished singer and composer Lindsay Hannon will be performing at the venue, creating an electric atmosphere.

She has been described as one of the finest jazz voices to come out of the North East in a long time: Lindsay is a well-known and well respected figure in the Newcastle scene.

An avid fan of music from an early age, she came into her own after joining an electric blues band at 23 following a lengthy trip to the US.

Fascinated by the way combination of the boundless potential of improvisation, coupled with a technical proficient, jazz was an inevitable next step. The Spy is her debut album.

The material varies from original pieces - an ode to a younger sister in "Heather forever" and an original set of lyrics to Joshua Redmond's "Wish", and extends to interpreting the lyrical complexity of "The Hissing of Summer Lawns" as well as the straight forward and brooding sound of the album's title track.

This engaging band moves from raucous barrel house blues to thoughtful, spacious ballads across a variety of grooves, creating an electric atmosphere.
