A FASCINATING trip through the railway posters of the Scarborough Collections will take place at Scarborough Art Gallery.

All Aboard! is an evening with railway poster expert Beverly Cole, formerly the curator of Pictorial Collections at the National Railway Museum in York.

In her illustrated talk, Beverley will be talking about the many fine examples in the Scarborough Collections, including some by artist Frank Henry Mason, whose work is currently being exhibited at the gallery.

Beverley Cole has written numerous articles on the history of the railway poster, and has written or co-written books on the subject including Trains, The Early Years; Along Artistic Lines: Two Centuries of Railway Art; Speed to the West: GWR Publicity; South for Sunshine: Southern Railway Publicity; York through the Eyes of the Railways; Railway Posters 1923-1947, and Happy as a Sandboy: Early Railway Posters.

All Aboard! takes place at the gallery on Friday, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5, and places are limited, so booking is recommended. To book, phone 01723 374753.

The current exhibition, Frank Henry Mason – the Man and his Methods, can be seen at the gallery until to Sunday, January 3.
