AN EXHIBITION describing the journey York artist Peter Miller took along the Wolds Way has opened at Scampston Walled Garden.

The new display of Peter’s work will take visitors 80 miles through the diverse landscape and breath-taking scenery.

Peter’s collection of oil paintings explore the artist’s personal voyage from the Humber Bridge to Filey, along the East Coast.

The pictorial adventure includes the dry chalk valleys of Thixendale, the prairie-like farms of the Wolds uplands, and a visit to Scampston itself.

Peter, who formerly owned Ken Spelman Booksellers in York, said: “I ran a bookshop for 40 years, but always wished to give more time to my passions for painting and walking. Retirement has given me the opportunity .”

The exhibition is taking place within the restaurant of the Walled Garden, until Saturday, October 31, and is open from 10am until 5pm daily.
