BRITISH blues guitarist and singer-songwriter Joanne Shaw Taylor is embarking on a 22-date autumn UK tour with a concert at the York Fibbers on Monday, September 28.
Joanne will perform songs from her most recent critically-acclaimed album The Dirty Truth, as well as songs from her previous three albums.
A contrast from the “pop style” female artists that are constantly in the media eye, Joanne represents the blues rock music scene in the UK which is becoming popular.
Joanne grew up around Birmingham and was inspired in her early teens to play the blues after hearing Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins and Jimi Hendrix.
She is currently one of the biggest blues rock guitarist in the UK and was discovered by Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart when she was 16, and has played guitar for Annie Lennox at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
In 2010, she won Best Female Vocalist at the British Blues Awards. She won the same award at the 2011 British Blues Awards, plus the Songwriter of the Year award for "Same As It Never Was" from Diamonds in the Dirt. Taylor's fourth studio album, The Dirty Truth, was recorded in Memphis, Tennessee with producer Jim Gaines.
Joanne is a staple on Planet Rock Radio, and one of the first contemporary rock artists to be constantly played on the radio station.
In the past year, Planet Rock has play-listed four singles from her current album The Dirty Truth. She is also the first artist to have a “Planet Rock Presents” UK tour built around her autumn 2015 UK tour dates.
