SOME of the most popular items featured in Scarborough Spa Orchestra concerts are songs from the shows.

Tomorrow (Thursday), the Gala Night will be devoted to some of the greatest stage and film musicals of all time.

This time the stars of the show will be the audience. The orchestra will play all the best songs from eight classic musical shows, the words will go up on the big screen and everyone will be invited to play their part by singing along.

Helping out will be a choir from the York Musical Theatre Company and special guest singer Michelle Todd, a great favourite with Spa audiences.

Michelle’s career has taken her literally all over the world. In the West End she has starred in the Sound of Music with Petula Clark and in Stephen Sondheim’s Follies among other shows. She will be leading all the songs with backing from the choir, but she enjoys the support of a lively, vocal audience.

The evening will include no end of well-known numbers from shows such as South Pacific, Mary Poppins, Show Boat, Oliver and more. The top of the bill will be The Sound of Music, chosen because 2015 sees the 50th anniversary of the release of Julie Andrews’ iconic film.

Tickets for Sing-Along-A-Musicals are £11, with children free with a paying adult. Tickets are available from The Spa’s box office on 01723 821888 and via scarboroughspa.co.uk
