FINAL rehearsals are under way for Helmsley Arts Centre's resident 1812 Theatre Company's summer production of the popular comedy 'Allo 'Allo.

This sparkling stage production of Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft’s much loved TV comedy series features the hapless Rene Artois, unwilling and unwitting hero of the French resistance, played by Martin Vander Weyer, alongside a host of hilarious characters.

The action take place in the small cafe in Nouvion, a small village in German-occupied France.

Rene struggles throughout to tread a precarious path between the German occupation force and the French resistance so that he can keep his business going and himself away from being shot by either side.

He is also trying to keep both his affairs, with his two waitresses, secret from not only his wife, Edith, but also from each of the waitresses themselves. Complicating matters further is the fact that he needs to keep, for himself, a priceless painting hidden from the Germans, as well as from the resistance . With the involvement of several other eccentric characters in the mix this double-entendre-laden comedy, directed by John Roberts, promises to be a fun-filled evening for all.

Performances run until Sunday, at 7.30pm.
