HELMSLEY Walled Garden is hosting an exhibition of watercolour drawings by Sir David Goodall until Sunday, July 5.

The exhibition is called Near and Far and all paintings are for sale with the proceeds being split between Helmsley Walled Garden and Leonard Cheshire Disability.

Sir David learnt to paint when he was a boy at Ampleforth but only started to paint seriously as an adult. He is a retired diplomat having been High Commissioner for India from 1987 up until 1991.

Sir David has long links with both organisations. He was chairman of Leonard Cheshire from 1995 until 2000 and a long-standing chairman of Helmsley Walled Garden, from 2001, standing down in 2012. This is his latest exhibition at the garden.

He has had to books of his paintings published, one a book of paintings from his time in India and the other views of Ryedale.

The exhibition will be in the Orchid House at Helmsley Walled Garden, normal admission charges apply.
