HELMSLEY Arts Centre will open its doors to a new exhibition by watercolour painter Michael Aubrey.

A leading exponent of the medium, his work is widely collected and can be found in numerous public and private collections round the world, including those of the Royal family.

More than 30 solo exhibitions of his work have been held in London, Paris, Sydney and several other capital cities, including individual presentations by The British Council.

Michael describes his paintings as “simple records of moments which I have enjoyed and want to share with others”.

Arts centre artistic director Em Whitfield Brooks said: “Michael uses bold, flowing brush strokes, dramatic lighting and vibrant colours, which combine to create a sense of cheerful spontaneity. This is his third show at Helmsley Arts Centre and is an exhibition to lift the spirits.”

A free preview of the exhibition will be held on Sunday, June 7, at 4pm. The exhibition runs from Tuesday, June 9 to Friday, July 3. Opening times are Tuesday, from 11am to 3pm, Wednesday to Friday, from 10am to 3pm, and Sunday, from 11am to 3pm.
