THE Milton Rooms, in Malton, has two bands appearing this weekend.
On Friday, Jaywalkers, who reached the finals of the BBC Young Folk Awards in 2008, take to the stage at 7.30pm.
Jaywalkers have cemented their place as one of the most exciting, virtuosic and entertaining young bands on the British folk scene.
Creating a unique sound based on their collective musical backgrounds, the band takes influence from folk, bluegrass, country and western swing music, creating innovative music rooted deeply in tradition.
Tickets are £8 and £9 at the door.
On Saturday, Fliss and the Stopouts are playing in aid of the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation at 8.30pm.
Once just known as the Dirty Stopouts, this Malton-York band is led by vocalist Felicity Barker, or simply Fliss.
This time they are joined by their friend, London-based comic and musician Steve Gribbin to play a rousing mix of classic songs from various artists, plus one or two of their own.
Tickets are £10 and available from the Milton Rooms on 01653 696240.
