NOEL Coward’s Private Lives is the latest production by the 1812 Theatre Company at Helmsley Arts Centre.

The play opens tomorrow and runs each evening until Sunday, March 1, before touring two local pubs, The Rose and Crown, Sutton-on-the-Forest on Wednesday, March 4, and The Blacksmith’s Arms, in Hartoft, on Friday, March 6, which are hosting supper theatre nights.

Directed by Martin Vander Weyer, this classic comedy of manners tells the story of divorced couple Elyot and Amanda, who find themselves honeymooning with their new spouses, in adjacent rooms, at the same hotel.

From this excruciating coincidence, Noel Coward constructs this charming play, which has been a classic of the English stage since it opened in 1930.

Starring local performers Jane Buckle, Grace Scott, John LIster, Jean Sheridan and Martin Vander Weyer, with co-direction by Diana Gaunt, this promises to be a wonderful evening’s entertainment.
