Dozens of events are taking place this half term. Here’s a round-up of the highlights.

HELMSLEY Arts Centre is offering plenty of entertainment for the children during half-term.

On Wednesday, February, 18, the National Theatre’s highly-praised Treasure Island will be screened at 6pm.

This swashbuckling adaptation of the classic story has had great reviews and is a must for pirate-lovers aged 10 and over.

On Thursday, February 19, there will be a screening of Paddington at 6pm.

Children can come and spend the whole day at the arts centre on Friday, February 20, with a circus skills workshop for all ages from 10.30am to 1.30pm. Children aged five to seven must be accompanied by an adult.

Led by Pete White, from Suitcase Circus, this session will encourage children to spin plates, juggle scarves, balls and clubs, balance feathers, try hula-hooping and brush up their performance skills in the company of a true circus expert.

Youngsters can then stay on for the Big Draw-Along with award-winning children’s illustrator Nick Sharratt. Find out how to create a character as Nick shares best drawing tips. Expect fun and games and plenty of chances to join in. It starts at 2.30pm.

A stay-all-day ticket for both events is £15. The circus skills workshop is £12 per child and Nick Sharratt’s Big Draw-Along is £6 for adults and £5 for under 18s. Phone 01439 771700 or book online at helmsleyarts.co.uk
