RYEDALE Folk Museum is offering free entry day for local people next Thursday, February 19.

The “community day” is an acknowledgement of the creation of the museum by people living in the area out of a passion for their heritage.

Museum director Jennifer Smith said: “Many local people do a lot for our museum and offering free entry for the day is part of us saying thank you. We’re keen to share it with as many people as possible, both our regular visitors and those who may never have explored what the museum has to offer before.”

The free entry day is in the school half-term week and there will also be holiday activities for children on Tuesday and Thursday, including making a bird collage and colouring, biscuit decorating and making bookmarks. Activities will take place from 1pm to 4pm each day.

To gain free entry residents must take proof of address and the following postcodes will qualify: DL6, YO7, YO62, YO61, YO60, YO41, YO32, YO25, YO19, YO18, YO17, YO13, YO12 and TS9.
