POCKLINGTON Arts Centre has a diverse range of events for 2015 from music and comedy to poets and political commentators.

The music on offer includes a strong female element with Grammy-nominated American singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman, the BBC2 Folk Award-nominated Anais Mitchell, Scottish songstress Barbara Dickson, venue favourite Kathryn Williams and daughter of jazz legends Cleo Laine and John Dankworth, Jacqui Dankworth.

Seth Lakeman, American singer-songwriter Josh Rouse and acclaimed jazz musician Courtney Pine will also be appearing.

There will also be a number of bands appearing such as arts centre regulars Fairport Convention and 10cc’s Graham Gouldman’s Heart Full Of Songs project.

Some of the comedy’s leading lights will be appearing, including political comedian Mark Thomas, Omid Djalili, Lee Nelson, Al Murray, Chris Ramsey, Craig Campbell and David Baddiel, who will be performing his first full show for 15 years. Also watch out for the popular Punchline Comedy Club nights showcasing comedians from the national circuit.

The arts centre will continue to present Live Broadcasts from the National Theatre and the RSC, as well as live theatre for adults and children from touring theatre companies.

Poet Pam Ayres, Boycie, music and social commentator Stuart Maconie, the performance poet John Cooper Clarke and political heavyweight Paddy Ashdown will also be making a welcome return.

Janet Farmer, venue manager, said: “On February 2, it will be 15 years since the venue first staged a live event – it was a sold-out show with the brilliant French Algerian guitarist Pierre Bensusan.

“We continue that diversity with a range of established and emerging performers coming to the venue over the next six months – we really believe there is something for everyone in the new season.”
