ELAINE PAIGE will perform at Scarborough Open Air Theatre in the summer, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

Following her sold-out 50th anniversary farewell UK tour, Elaine will now be concentrating on special one-off concerts, of which Scarborough is one.

“I’m really looking forward to making my ‘return’ to Scarborough and to be performing with the wonderful Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be such a thrill,” Elaine said.

A thrilling live performer, Elaine has performed in concert all over the world and last appeared in Scarborough in 2006.

She has recorded 21 solo albums and earned eight consecutive gold and four multi-platinum discs and has achieved chart-topping hits, including Memory, Don’t Cry For Me Argentina and I Know Him So Well, which have become her signatures.

She has made a unique and major contribution to the development and production of the stage musical. She has starred in West End and Broadway musicals – Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Billy, Evita, Cats, Chess, Anything Goes, Piaf, Sunset Boulevard, The King and I, Sweeney Todd, The Drowsy Chaperone and most recently Follies.

In 1995, she was awarded an OBE for services to musical theatre.

Elaine also continues to be one of the star presenters on BBC Radio 2 with her own lunchtime show, Elaine Paige On Sunday, which is now in its 10th year and attracts more than two million listeners each week.
