AUDIO description for visually-impaired patrons is available in our screen one. Currently, only row three is available, others will be added after we have had the feedback on the system. So audio description is available for most films but only in our screen one on row three.

This week I can report on our schedule as it seems to be taking shape. We have a great season of films over the next few months. What seems to be shaping up to be a big film for next year is Fifty Shades of Grey.

We have been asked if we will hire out our 12-seat screen three for private parties and are looking for a way to do this. As of now we will have screen two open for booking as soon as we know the length of the film. It has been a long while since a film has had this much interest so far ahead – not since the last James Bond.

From Friday, November 28, we have Nativity 3: Dude, Where’s My Donkey? (U) – a good fun family film with Martin Clunes playing Mr Shepherd. Marc Wootton is back as the bonkers and loveable Mr Poppy. Celia Imrie is the headteacher this time around. The story revolves around Mr Poppy bringing in a Ddonkey for Aassembly, which then kicks Mr Shepherd in the head making him lose his memory, not remembering his daughter who wants him to marry the new mother (played by Catherine Tate) who is American., tThey need to enter and win a Fflashmob competition to be able to go to America to resolve the story. OK you may need to suspend disbelief a bit – well maybe rather a lot but if it is like the last two films it should be great fun.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is released on Friday, December 12, and booking will be open soon. Bilbo and his Ccompany of Hobbits are drawn into an armed conflict against Smaug and his cohorts to prevent him taking the kingdom and treasure whilest obliterating all of Middle Earth.

The very busy Benedict Cumberbatch plays Smaug/Necromancer, Orlando Blum is Legolas, Cate Blanchett is Galadriel, James Nesbitt the entertaining Bofur, Ian Mckellen is Gandalf, Christopher Lee is Saruman (he has that kind of commanding voice for evil doesn’t he?), Martin Freeman is Bilbo (otherwise maybe he could have been in the new Nativity Movie?), Stephen Fry as the Master of Laketown, Billy Connolly makes an appearance as Dain. These are just some of the cast in what seems to be another masterpiece from the Hobbit obsessed Peter Jackson.

Paddington joins our schedule on Friday, December 12, as well. Ben Whishaw (you may remember he played the new Q in Skyfall) plays the voice of Paddington, the long-suffering Mr Brown is played by Hugh Bonneville (taking time out from being master at Downton Abbey), Sally Hawkins (played Rita O’Grady in Made in Dagenham) plays Mrs Brown, Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who himself) appears as Mr Curry, Jim Broadbent is Mr Gruber, Julie Walters as Mrs Bird. This is a huge cast and promises much.

The Imitation Game (12A) starts with us on Friday, November 28. The Imitation Game is the story of an English mathematician and logician, Alan Turing, helps crack the Enigma code during the Second World War.

I find it amazing that the story of the secret cracking of the Enigma Code still gets the attention, (which I feel it deserves,) as it is science and technology and the clever people behind it.

It was obviously a huge secret and the first computer which Alan Turing designed was supposedly buried said to be on Churchill’s instructions. If he had not had it buried what a leap forward our country would have had coming out of the war.

Booking is open for Mr Turner (12A) which joins our schedule on Friday. There is a hard of hearing (subtitled) showing on Tuesday at 7.30pm.

Films this week Mr Turner (12A and the number four film in the top 10) is booking up nicely for Friday.

This explores the last quarter century of the great, if eccentric British painter, JMW Turner (1775-1851).

Interstellar (12A and number one in the top 10) – we have only space for one showing a day for this fab film this week.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (12A, new release) starts tomorrow and is quite busy too.

Say When (15) has only got room for one show this week.

At the weekends we have Book of Life (U) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (12A) again.

Live stage productions: ROH Live Opera: L’elisir d’amore (12A) plays live on Wednesday, November 26. We have two tickets unexpectedly returned for this showing.

The Old Vic’s: The Crucible (15) is on Thursday, December 4, at 6.45pm and Sunday, December 7, at 4.15pm.

Seats are filling up nicely for this production though there are still good seats available.

ROH Live Ballet: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (12A) has still some reasonable seats available in both screens.

Looking ahead to next year, The Royal Shakespeare Company’s: The Merchant of Venice (12A) plays with us on Wednesday, July 22, at 5.45pm.
