ONE of the country's greatest reggae artists UB40 Reunited will be performing at Scarborough Open Air Theatre next year.

UB40 Reunited includes Ali Campbell, the legendary voice and principal songwriter of UB40, reunited with vocalist, percussionist and trumpeter Astro and keyboard player Mickey Virtue, all of which are founding members of the original UB40.

The original UB40 line-up with Ali, Astro and Mickey enjoyed huge success from 1978 until 2008, including number one album, Labour of Love and multiple top 10, gold and platinum selling albums and Grammy nominations.

They have survived more than 30 years in the music business and have clocked up millions of record sales worldwide with songs like Kingston Town and Red, Red Wine.

Only now that these three founding members are reunited can fans get to experience the closest thing to the sound of the hugely successful original line-up of UB40. UB40 Reunited’s Scarborough date on Friday, August 14. will be part of a huge world tour, playing all the past hits and new tracks from recently released new album, Silhouette.

Welcome to Yorkshire Area Director, Janet Deacon said: “What a great start to the line-up for 2015. Feedback from local businesses about how they benefit from the spending power visitors to the Open Air Theatre bring has been really positive to date and I’m sure they will be equally pleased with today’s announcement.

"It’s great to see that the theatre team is once again setting high standards for entertainment on the Yorkshire coast.”
