AN art exhibition celebrating the wealth of wildlife to be found in Yorkshire opens in Thixendale, on November 8.

Wildlife artist Robert E Fuller plans to display paintings featuring his favourite Yorkshire creatures through an exhibition that also offers nature walks, birdwatching tours, talks on where and how to spot Yorkshire’s secret wildlife and events for children to explore "all creatures great and small".

“I’ve travelled widely to see wildlife all over the world, but there’s something so special about seeing a hare bound across an arable field on the Yorkshire Wolds, or a curlew fly low over moorland,” said Mr Fuller.

“This county is so varied. You can see roe deer and owls here on the Wolds, whilst on the Dales there are red squirrels and grouse and, by the coast, gannets and puffins.”

Mr Fuller hopes his exhibition will be a celebration of the county’s natural heritage.

He also plans to give a talk and slideshow at his gallery on November 22nd on how to spot this hidden bounty.

“I have lived in Yorkshire all my life and spend most of my time out in the countryside watching the creatures in the wild and I know all the best spots to look for them,” he said.

There will also be outdoor photography workshops to see red kites and waterfowl as well as birdwatching safaris to see barn owls.

Robert Fuller’s Yorkshire: An Artist’s Perspective is open weekdays from 9.30am-4.30pm and 10.30am to 4.30pm on weekends between November 8 and 30, at The Robert Fuller Gallery, Thixendale. More details at robertefuller.com
