JOHN CHALLIS – better known as Boycie in the BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses – will be appearing at The Black Swan, in Helmsley, next month.

A veteran actor of stage and screen, John will be chatting with guests and signing his latest book, the second autobiography in his series, Boycie and Beyond.

John has been a professional actor since the late 1960s and has a wide repertoire of stage productions to his name, including The Royal Shakespeare Company, Tom Stoppard’s theatre productions in America and classic television series, including Z-Cars, Dixon of Dock Green, Coronation Street, Soldier Soldier and Heartbeat.

Yet, it is his leading role as Terrance Aubrey, or Boycie, in the long-running TV comedy favourite, Only Fools and Horses that made him a household name in the 1980s.

John is now author of four books, including two autobiographies, Being Boycie, which takes the reader from John’s early acting career to the mid-1980s and his emergence as Boycie and the newly-launched second book, Boycie and Beyond, which takes you through the series and up to present time.

John will be meeting guests at the Black Swan on Sunday, November 9, to chat informally, sharing anecdotes from the series, his other acting japes, as well as sharing insights to his somewhat colourful personal life.

In addition, John will be promoting his two novels, which follow the rise and fall of Reggie ffinch-Leigh, a lovable yet rogue-ish antiques dealer.

There are no tickets for this informal event, and all visitors are welcome. Simply drop-in and meet John, from 2pm to 4pm. Phone 01439 770466 or visit blackswan-helmsley.co.uk
