TERRINGTON Arts presents North Country Theatre in J L Carr’s A Month in the Country on Wednesday, November 12.

Two men, an artist and archaeologist recently released from the horrors of the trenches, find themselves working side by side in a North Yorkshire village.

What they slowly uncover is an ancient village mystery, hidden passions and the healing power of a month in the country.

This prize-winning novel was made into a film with Colin Firth and Kenneth Branagh in the starring roles.

North Country Theatre created the first stage adaptation in 2002 when the Spectator described it as, “A haunting evocation of a past time”.

In response to many requests from supporters and venues, they are touring again to mark the centenary of the beginning of the First World War.

Lesley Bradshaw, of Terrington Arts, said: “We can’t promise you Colin Firth and Kenneth Branagh, but we know from previous visits of North Country Theatre to Terrington that Nobby Dimon’s version will be full of wit, invention and imagination as he brings this moving story to life on stage.”

A Month in the Country will be at Terrington Village Hall on Wednesday, November 12, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10, £8 for members of Terrington Arts and half price for students over 12s, and are available from Nadine on 01653 648484, email terringtonarts@gmail.com or online at northcountrytheatre.com
