LAST seen at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, in Scarborough, with Kathakbox, the Sonia Sabri Company returns with a new, high-energy dance production.
Jugni is an explosion of dance, music and meaning with soaring vocals and percussion inspired by Qawwali, coupled with powerful contemporary choreography driven by the passion and high energy of traditional dance styles.
Jugni is also a female firefly and symbolically both the innocent outsider and the spirit of life.
Celebrated for presenting contemporary Kathak in bold new ways, the company illuminates the stories of real women through movement, rhythm and rhyme.
Jugni can be seen at the Stephen Joseph Theatre on Monday, at 7.30pm.
Tickets, priced from £10 to £15, are available from the box office on 01723 370541 or online at sjt.uk.com
