SINGER-songwriter Dan Whitehouse returns to the Milton Rooms, in Malton, on Friday, September 26.

Dan, who writes songs for cathartic reasons and in a bid to make sense of things, finds his inspiration in the human condition, our cravings and the insides of the relationships we develop.

Since releasing his debut album in 2009, Dan has amassed a catalogue of five EPs/mini-albums and three full-albums, performed sell-out shows across the UK and North America and is an active community musician.

His new album Raw State, which is due for release towards the end of the year, is the sound of Dan instinctively and candidly arriving into the next chapter of his sound and adventure; a mature series of performances that feature some of the songwriter’s best material – head and heart music.

BBC Radio Two’s Jeremy Vine and Janice Long are both fans; Jeremy Vine finds Dan “fresh and exciting” and Janice Long sums up his music as “really, really gorgeous songs”.

Dan’s guest for the evening is Holly Tamar, who is credited with one of the most distinctive voices in the Yorkshire area.

Holly has written and arranged beautiful acoustic originals, featuring a multitude of genres. She had an early solo career learning her craft at acoustic nights across the UK and is now a member of York band The Bronze.

Tickets are £8 or £10 at the door and are available from the Milton Rooms, Malton, or by phoning 01653 696240.

The performance starts at 7.30pm and doors open at 7pm.
