THE Kommitments, one of the leading tribute and function soul bands, will perform a special fundraising gig at the Milton Rooms, in Malton, on Saturday, October 4.

Featuring six leading musicians and four stunning vocalists, the band pays their tribute to The Commitments, the hugely popular feel-good film of the 1990s, written by Roddy Doyle and directed by Alan Parker.

The Kommitments show is both dynamic and visual and is truly authentic and accurate, capturing all the energy to truly recreate the atmosphere and brilliance of the movie.

They pay homage to the best soul and Motown hits around from the likes of Wilson Pickett, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, among many others, with songs such as Mustang Sally, Hard To Handle, Take Me To The River, plus many classic soul hits too.

The band formed more than 10 years ago and has built up a solid reputation based on their outstanding and exciting live performances. All band members are full-time musicians, are incredibly hard working and pride themselves on providing the best show they can for every event.

The evening has been organised by Rob Davies, funding coordinator of Ryedale Special Families, and all proceeds from will go towards their work providing ongoing care and support for more than 400 local families who have children with disabilities or special needs.

Rob said: “I wanted to put on something a little different and am hoping The Kommitments will capture peoples’ imagination - tt promises to be a fantastic night.”

Tickets are £12.50 and are available from the Milton Rooms box office or by phoning 01653 696240.
