RYEDALE is in for a treat on Friday when one of the most popular local bands, Chu Ma Shu, join forces with some of the best bands in North Yorkshire for a night of no-nonsense musical entertainment.

Avalanche Party, based in Rosedale, were recently formed from the ashes of the renowned Chapman Family and 3 Foot Ninja.

Between them the band members have performed to great acclaim throughout the UK, across Europe, in Japan and the US, as well as securing national and local radio time.

Avalanche Party’s sound is described as intense and immediate, “new yet familiar, brimming with an urgency that explodes off the stage like the front lines of a war you didn’t even realise was being fought”.

“Every note is played through white knuckles, every word spat through gritted teeth,” said a spokesman for the band.

“The beats blast like cannons, while the guitars stampede like spooked stallions surging ever onward, snorting, snarling and tearing apart everything in their path.”

Already destined for great things, Avalanche Party will play the Evolution Emerging Festival in May and are lined-up for Willowman in June.

Joining them are Whitby’s Ten Foot Tom and the Leprosy Crooks – a band which has rapidly become firm favourites at both Radio York and Radio Tees.

Chu Ma Shu need no introduction to music fans in Ryedale.

Frontman Jake D’Alquen said: “Obviously I’m looking forward to playing with Chu Ma Shu, as with every gig, but I guess what I’m looking forward to more than anything is hearing Avalanche Party and Ten Foot Tom. It’s not often we get bands from outside our local area playing here – it’ll be great to have some fresh music for the ears of Pickering.”

The gig is at The Rose Inn, Pickering, on Friday, at 8pm. Entry is free.
