GET your skates on for the hottest tickets in town on a train journey like no other.

Ryedale Youth Theatre is thrilled to be one of the first in the country to present Andrew Lloyd Webber’s youth group production of Starlight Express.

The original show opened at the Apollo Victoria, in London, on March 27, 1984, and in April 1991, Starlight Express became the second longest running musical in London theatre history at that time.

Written as “a sort of Cinderella story” by Andrew Lloyd Webber for his children, Starlight Express is pure fun and the world’s only musical performed entirely on roller skates.

A child’s train set magically comes to life and the various engines compete to become the fastest engine in the world.

The underdog, "Rusty" the steam train, has little chance until he is inspired by the legend of the Starlight Express and ultimately defeats his arch-rivals Greaseball and Electra before going on to win the hand of the lovely first class coach Pearl.

With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Richard Stilgoe and David Yazbeck, along with an eclectic mix of styles, this truly is a show with something for all the family.

This is the version of the show that recently toured the UK and includes the new song "I Do".

Classic numbers from the original show include U.N.C.O.U.P.L.E.D, Rolling Stock, Pumping Iron and AC/DC.

Barbara Wood, of Ryedale Youth Theatre, said: "Starlight Express is the fastest and most dynamic musical you will ever experience.

"If you have not seen it yet get your skates on now for the hottest tickets in town. It will be a train journey you will never forget."

Starlight Express is at the Milton Rooms, Malton, from Wednesday, April 16, to Saturday, April 19, at 7.15pm, with a 2pm matinee on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Tickets are £12 for adults and £10 for children and concessions, available from the Milton Rooms box office, Market Place, Malton, phone 01653 696240.
