THE former library in Kirkbymoorside’s Market Place, which is nearing the end of a major refurbishment, will be reopened as a community meeting place on Saturday, May 3, as part of the Tour de France 100-day cultural festival.

It will be named The Moorside Room and, said the town mayor, Councillor Chris Dowie, the opening will be marked with an exhibition featuring Kirkbymoorside’s historic and 21st century industries.

“There are a lot of thriving businesses, and many leaders in the high-technology world nationally. In the past, the town has had a wide range of industries, which have helped Kirkbymoorside to be the successful town it is today,” said Coun Dowie.
