RESIDENTS in Old Malton are to open their gardens to the public this weekend to raise funds for St Mary's Priory.
Last held over 10 years ago, members of the church decided to organise an open gardens event after looking at different ways of raising funds for the church.
Helen Morgan, one of the organisers, said nine gardens were taking part ranging from cottage gardens to more formal layouts.
"A few members of the church decided to open their gardens and it went from there," she added.
"We are pleased with the number who have decided to taken part and those buying tickets will be able to visit over two days if they don't manage to get round them all on the Saturday."
Old Malton open gardens will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27, 1 - 5pm.
Tickets are £3.50 and available from the community centre from 12.30pm on each day. Refreshments and a tombola will also be available.
