VISITORS to this weekend's Malton Food Market will be able to step back in time with a taste of the past.

Sarah Maultby, project officer for the Woodhams Stone Collection, in Malton, will be giving an insight into Victorian ice cream making and offering samples to taste.

She said: “It will be great time to show how this popular summer favourite is made using traditional methods and equipment from the collection."

Tom Naylor-Leyland, the market's director, said he was delighted Sarah would be demonstrating Victorian ice cream-making at the July market.

“The market always has a great atmosphere, with live music from a local band and enthusiastic stallholders who produce a fantastic range of wonderful food to sell at one of the most successful food markets in Yorkshire and this will prove an added attraction for the summer," he said.

“The food market has a number of great benefits for visitors, including free parking and a brigade of friendly volunteers who help with anything from finding you a parking space to telling you all about Malton."
