NORTH Yorkshire’s Ryedale Vineyards has won its first silver medal in a national wine competition.
The event, which was held in Oxford attracts entries from vineyards throughout England and Wales. Ryedale was the only Yorkshire vineyard to win medals, and in addition to the silver, won a bronze medal for its Wolds View off-dry white wine.
The wine which won the silver medal was a medium rosé, Shepherds Delight.
Both wines were made at the vineyard by Skipton born Stuart Smith, who runs the business with his wife Elizabeth.
The ten acres of vineyards were planted in 2006 and 2008 and their wines have been winning awards since their first harvest in 2008.
Last year Ryedale Vineyards won a gold medal in the regional vineyards competition for their pink sparkling wine A Taste of Paradise.
