THE UK'S Annual Celebration of Better Barbecuing, National BBQ Week, runs until June 1 and heralds the start of a summer long celebration of alfresco eating, entertaining and barbecues.

For Yorkshire Coast micro-brewery Wold Top Brewery, bank holidays and BBQ's are synonymous with a significant increase in sales of its award-winning real ales.

Gill Mellor from Wold Top Brewery said: "You can't beat a traditional, refreshing real ale when you're cooking and eating outdoors. Our usual best seller throughout the summer months is Wold Gold, an award winning blonde beer that chills down well and is enjoyed by men and women alike, but this year the anticipation surrounding the Grand Départ of the Tour de France has meant that our Tour inspired beer, Hello Vélo has proved equally popular."

Wold Gold is brewed where the Yorkshire Wolds meet the East Coast from traditional recipes using the best hops and home and Wolds grown malting barley coupled with the purest, chalk-filtered water. It's a satisfying, easy drinking beer with an ABV of 4.8% and has a soft, fruity flavour with a hint of spice whilst Hello Vélo has an ABV of 4.2% and is a sparkling crisp ale with an earthy spiciness and honeyed marmalade overtone.

Farm based Wold Top Brewery is part of the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) scheme for environmental initiatives and is also working closely with the RSPB to promote its birdlife.

It brews traditional real ale from home and Wolds grown malting barley, the finest hops and chalk-filtered water from the farm's own borehole. Its range of award winning ales is also available through the website, independent, family owned retailers, farm shops, delis, hotels, pubs and off licences throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
