PLANS to promote Malton as Yorkshire’s Food Capital will be one of the subjects discussed at a public meeting next Tuesday, March 11.
Items on the agenda include this year’s Malton Food Lovers Festival, the new Made in Malton brand, and Malton as a Yorkshire’s Food Capital.
The meeting, which will be held from 6pm at The Yard, in Malton’s Market Place, will be chaired by Tom Naylor-Leyland and Sam Welply, of Wellpleased Events, who is helping organise this year’s Food Lovers Festival on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25.
Tom, who is the director of Malton Food Lovers Festival and Monthly Food Market, will be on hand with a presentation and a follow-up question and answer session. Sam will talk about the Food Lovers Festival in more detail.
Celebrity chefs attending the festival have already been announced and include Jean- Christophe Novelli, the Incredible Spice Men and the Chiappa Sisters.
The phrase Yorkshire’s Food Capital was first coined by the Godfather of Italian cuisine, Antonio Carluccio, after visiting Malton.
Tom said: “There are many changes happening in Malton, from the opening of Malton Cookery School, to Made in Malton Food Tours and Monthly Food Market.
“Everyone is welcome to this event and we hope lots of people can make it. Malton is changing. Make sure you are part of it.”
