A WOLDS bakery and organic farm is holding an open day this month.

Carr House Farm shares its Foston-on-the-Wolds home with the Side Oven Bakery and numerous species of wildlife.

The open day is on Sunday, February 23, from 10am to 4pm, and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will be leading walks around the riverbank and the dykes on the farm looking for wildlife.

The walks start at 10.30am and 1.30pm and each one will take about two hours.

For people wanting a shorter walk, Carr House Farm’s two self-guided farm nature trails will be open. The shorter one takes about 20 minutes and guides walkers through the trees around the home paddocks where they will be able to see bird and bat boxes. This trail is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

The second trail takes about 40 minutes and takes visitors along the riverbank where there are winter crops, orchards and owl boxes, but this route includes some rough terrain unsuitable for pushchairs.

There will be milling demonstrations in the Mill House, educational information in the straw bale-built Gingerbread Barn and homebaked refreshments will also be available from the bakery team.

Entry is free, but donations can be made to the Country Trust.
