The Literary Dinner at the Dean Court Hotel on Good Friday will have a distinctly chocolatey theme.
York writers Fiona Shaw and Paul Chrystal have both written books with a chocolate connection. Fiona’s debut novel in 2003 was The Sweetest Thing: a story set against the backdrop of the York chocolate industry featuring two characters who meet on Foss Bridge and get caught up in a tragic world of corruption and deceit.
Historian and former bookshop owner Paul, meanwhile, has only recently brought out his History Of Chocolate in York – which is exactly what it says on the cover.
Both will talk about their books at the dinner, while guests enjoy a specially-created four-course chocolate tasting menu, compiled by the hotel’s head chef Paul Laidlaw.
• Chocolate Literary Dinner at Dean Court Hotel, York. Friday, April 6, 7.15pm for 7.45pm. Tickets: £35 by calling 01904 625082. Dress: smart casual.
