Andy Seed moved to North Yorkshire 30 years ago as a fresh face in the teaching profession.

This book is about his experiences with primary schoolchildren, fellow staff and a headmaster not used to change. We are introduced to various characters, most of them children, and witness their amusing antics and observations.

Alongside the days spent in the classroom, we read of day-to-day events such as buying a new house, while his wife is in Germany; the duration of Barbara’s pregnancy and the lives of those who live in the beautiful countryside of Yorkshire.

It is about learning to fit in and at the same time keeping one’s individuality; about how to learn something from the most trying of circumstances, but most of all how to enjoy the life we have chosen for ourselves.

This is a book that can be dipped into and is a good light-hearted read; most enjoyable.
