FORMER Archbishop’s Special Envoy and Middle East hostage Terry Waite will be speaking in Beverley this week as the town’s literary festival draws to a close.
Mr Waite will be appearing in Beverley Minster on Saturday evening, to mark 25 years since his release from being a hostage in Beirut.
The final week of the festival will also feature new works, specially commissioned by the “Lit Up” festival, to mark the 200th anniversary of Charlotte Brontë’s birth.
New responses to her work by novelist Andrew McMillan, singer-songwriter Nat Johnson and playwright Zodwa Nyoni, will be performed for the first time in the Minster on Tuesday.
Full programme details are at www.litup.org
Tickets are available from the website, by phone on 01482 392699 or from Beverley Library.
