THE charity Action for Children is encouraging children’s centres and nurseries in York to host a Giant Wiggle to celebrate the children’s book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The Giant Wiggle on March 19 will bring together under-5s to wiggle along in giant caterpillar conga lines, encouraging them to help others, and opening up their imaginations through storytelling and creative activities.
In March 2014, more than 32,000 children from nearly 800 schools and nurseries took part in The Giant Wiggle, raising £80,000 for Action for Children.
Julie Longworth, operational director of children services at Action for Children across Yorkshire, said: “We want to celebrate Eric Carle’s beloved book by encouraging children to get active and have fun.
“By hosting a sponsored Giant Wiggle you will help us to support vulnerable children, young people and families in the heart of communities in York and across the UK.”
Action for Children provides early years child development, learning and childcare services to thousands of tots throughout the UK, through its children and family centres.
