Famous for various big acts playing huge shows in the past, Knebworth will play host to a heavy beast of a festival in the form of Sonisphere 2009, from August 1-2

Saturday, August 1

Headlined by one of the biggest bands in the world, Linkin Park. Now, this band took me through many hours of teenage life, and has created a unique sound.

However, the new album was well, let me paint a picture. You know when you get a present from someone, that says: “I know this is exactly what you have always wanted, and now I will sit here with a big grin on my face, half sharing your joy, but a bigger half just outwardly projecting my own self satisfaction at knowing that I can read you like a book!”?

Then you open the present and its just OK and not what you always wanted, in fact, you wouldn’t mind not having it, but in order to show gratitude, you let out a strange “aww” noise.

You know what I mean, well, that is exactly how Linkin Park’s most recent stuff has been, just like that present. But I still reckon they are worth seeing.

Other highlights include Coheed & Cambria, Fear Factory, The Used, and Taking Back Sunday, and a completely random appearance by Hundred Reasons.

Sunday, August 2

I suppose the gods of metal get their fingers in most musical pies, and here is another musical pie that has been tampered with, as headlining day two is Metallica.

I will spare you of my usual Metallica rant, but they are playing and I’m sure lots of people will enjoy them, not everyone, but lots. Other highlights of day two include, Nine Inch Nails, Machine Head, Alice In Chains, Thin Lizzy, and Feeder.

Other acts featuring are Fighting With Wire, The Ataris, Zebrahead, Avenged Sevenfold and the Cancer Bats.

The Vibe will be there, slightly scared, but with just about enough to survive, prepare for tales from beyond the stage.
