London Astoria 2, Charing Cross Road, April 11
Finally a chance to see one of my favourite bands of the moment, Everytime I Die (ETID) from Buffalo in the US.
The night began with three support bands that I had heard of but hadn't had the opportunity of checking out before. I missed the first support band, Blackhole, because I was stuffing my face with a sandwich and large beer down the road. Scary Kids Scaring Kids - wow, they were incredible. The whole performance left me mesmerized, the sound, the image, the stage show all executed to perfection.
The next band on the bill wwere Drop Dead Gorgeous. My first thought was how much they sounded like a band that I love called Norma Jean.
I wouldn't say that I didn't enjoy their set, because I did, but it wasn't at the same standard as the Scary Kids' performance.
It was time for Everytime I Die to hit the stage. The lights went down, the crowd were crushing forward, and then BOOM! the band rushed on and burst into their most recent single "We'rewolf". I can honestly say that never before have I seen a dirtier band, sonically and visually. I loved every moment of it, rifling through songs such as the aptly named "Romeo a go go" off the "Hot Damn Album" and recent ditties such as "Cities and Years" off the superb "Big Dirty" album.
I really recommend that you check out Everytime I Die if you get the chance.
