LET me start by explaining the "Part 2" bit of the ever-so-gripping headline above, as it will prove to be rather important in moments to come.

The deal with this "Part 2" affair is that One Night Only played two shows at Fibbers on consecutive nights. They had been booked in for one night, but the show sold out so quickly a second night was added (which also sold out with ease).

So in conclusion, "Part 2" refers to the second of two nights that One Night Only played at Fibbers, and was the night that I managed to get down there.

On arrival I noticed things had a slightly strange feeling as there wasn't the usual line of sugar-filled teenage types, ready to create yet another legendary night, but this was only the start of what was due to be the strangest "homecoming" gig of all time!

The first act on for the night was a singer-songwriter called Nick Harrison, and you know what? He was absolutely great!

He'd brought a couple of session musicians with him, and the set consisted of some sort of happy-go-lucky indie/ska mix that was as pleasant as finding a red Starburst in the middle of all of those awful green and yellow ones that they seem to pad the packets out with.

The vocals were clean and the delivery was spot on. I'm going to make a bold prediction (which isn't so bold when you realise that he has just signed a major deal) that we'll be hearing a lot more from Nick Harrison over the next year, so go check him out on www. myspace. com/NickHarrisonSongs and get a head start on everyone else.

The second band on stage were terrible so I won't go into that, they made me rather sad.

So with Nick Harrison starting the night well and an Indie miss filling the space inbetween, it was time for One Night Only to come to the stage.

At this point I was expecting the usual mad surge towards the front of the stage accompanied by a huge ovation to welcome the guys back home, especially as the rumours were flying around the venue about how 'the show was so great last night, and everyone was rocking so hard, Jack (keyboard) managed to rock himself through the stage leaving a Jack-sized hole!' However, as the Helmsley boys came on to salute a packed-out Fibbers, there was polite applause and a few token "whoooooos".

This triggered me to look around and I then realised that I, at the colossal age of 22, was one of the youngest people in there!

At this point I would like to state that no, I'm not saying old people can't rock, Dangerous Pete is testament enough to that.

And no, I'm not saying old people shouldn't be into One Night Only because their music does appeal to everyone, but due to the lack of youngsters, the atmosphere was dead.

Instead of a crazy crowd moshing along to every song and screaming their hearts out, there was an expectant gaze towards the stage every now and again, as well as a lot of background chatting.

I feel I should also make it clear that the lack of atmosphere was nothing to do with One Night Only, who played a great set, full of energy and enthusiasm. It was completely down to a lack of crowd interest or enthusiasm.

Not one person throughout the entire set moved, not even a jump, that is until 'Just For Tonight' which managed to get four people at the front moving, until they realised everyone else was standing still, and embarrassment set in.

One Night Only would usually play Just For Tonight as an encore song, but with the lack of atmosphere and the fact that half of the audience left after they had played it, they can be forgiven for not coming back out for an extra couple of tunes.

So the homecoming "part two" was a complete anti-climax in my opinion. As the old saying goes, "it takes two to tango", unfortunately One Night Only turned up ready to dance, but the crowd had seemingly forgotten their shoes.
