THE jury is still out this lunchtime in the case of the two jockeys who died in a fire in a block of flats in Norton near Malton.

Peter William Brown, 37, of School Croft in Brotherton, is accused of two counts of murder, two counts of manslaughter and one charge of arson with intent to endanger life.

So far the jury at Leeds Crown Court have been deliberating on the verdict for seven hours, after failing to reach a decision yesterday afternoon.

Promising young jockeys Jamie Kyne, 18, from Ireland and 19-year-old Jan Wilson, died when fire tore through Buckrose Court in Norton in the early hours of September 5 last year.

Brown has denied all the charges.
