HUNDREDS of students at Easingwold School have met their prospective parliamentary candidates.

Some 250 pupils packed into the school hall to hear from the Conservative’s Kevin Hollinrake, Labour’s Alan Avery, Ukip’s Toby Horton and the Green Party’s Chris Newsam.

The would-be MPs discussed issues including the NHS, immigration, fox hunting and university fees, in a discussion that became heated.

The event was organised by sixth formers Chris Scurr and Hayley Barker.

Chris said: “We had a lot of good feedback from students who thanked us and said it was very informative.”
