A COLLECTION of old archived photographs of the Young Farmers’ Club (YFC) stand at the Great Yorkshire Show have been uncovered.

Members are busy sorting through the dozens of pictures and making a timeline display which will be on display at the show from July 11 to 13.

Emily Packer, chairman of the YFC@GYS committee, said she had particularly enjoyed looking at the fashion parades and the Royal visits.

“The fashions include everything from wedding outfits to ball gowns and puffball skirts,” she said. “I’ve also been overwhelmed to discover the number of Royal and other distinguished guests the stand has received over the years.

“I’m sure visitors to the show will find looking through these photographs as fascinating as I have and extend a very warm invitation to showgoers to come and have a look.”

The stand, which is run jointly by the Yorkshire and East Riding federations of the YFC, traditionally hosts a debate on the last day of the show. This year’s will be chaired by the new national president of the YFC movement, broadcaster and Farming Today presenter Charlotte Smith.

Emily. “The stand at the Yorkshire Show is an ideal opportunity to pop in and find out all you need to know about joining.”
