FOR this month’s feature, Kirkbymoorside Camera Club has headed outside to capture the change of season. A club spokesman said: “Every season has its beauty and autumn is no exception; a photographers’ dream season.

“It is a time of year when everything seems to burst into life, as if nature is giving us a final gala performance of its splendour before winter sets in.

“Autumn brings beautiful saturated colours, amazing light, long shadows and, best of all, no early mornings or late nights to capture those spectacular sunrises or sunsets - perfect.”

The club meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Moorside Bar and Club, Shaw Drive, Kirkbymoorside, at 7.30pm.

New members of all standards welcome.

Julie Cowdy - Colourful Copse

Many clusters of young acers, including these aptly named October Glory, are to be found beside the lake at the Yorkshire Arboretum, at Castle Howard. Their range of colours each autumn is extraordinary.

Colin Dilcock - Fruits of Autumn

Every year, in celebration of a productive season, Helmsley Walled Garden displays its produce for the public to view. This image, taken in the Orchid House, represents part of this amazing display.

Harry Kingman - Sweet Chestnut

Taken in the Yorkshire Arboretum on a bright day in early October. Within the arboretum, there are several ancient sweet chestnut trees each with a massive, gnarled trunk. The fruits ripen in autumn and open to reveal between two and four edible nuts which are delicious when roasted.

Liz Bassindale - Red Deer in Autumn

Autumn is a great time of year to visit Studley Royal, managed by the National Trust, with the seasonal leaves making a perfect backdrop as you watch the three species of deer in the parkland.

Mike Chapman - The Minster, Lovell

The Minster is located in the small village of Lovell, in Oxfordshire. The ruin is the remains of a 15th century manor house situated next to the River Windrush.

Bob Ordidge - European brown bear surrounded by Autumn colours

The photograph was taken in Oulu, northern Finland on the Russian border. Most of the countryside is forest and contains a lot of silver birch trees. When the trees have been cleared the ground is left open so that small trees and bushes can grow in open spaces with lots of sunshine and little competition. This results in lots of colour everywhere.

Sharon Marwood - Autumn colour at May Beck on the North York Moors

May Beck forms part of a two-mile woodland circular walk that includes the 30ft Falling Foss waterfall.

In autumn the foliage is very colourful and contrasts well with the brickwork of the bridge and colour of the water.
