Barrie Tuck – Lauren

This portrait is one of a series of Lauren, a young model from York, who needed pictures in her “Prom dress” for her Mum and Dad to keep. She is usually seen in authentic dress at the Pickering Wartime and Goth weekends.

Harry Kingman – Waitress

This photograph, taken in Tallin, Estonia, shows a young waitress in traditional dress enjoying a welcome coffee break before the lunchtime rush.

Julie Cowdy - Freddie and Friend

“Freddie Gilroy” is a giant steel structure made by Ray Lonsdale. It provides a popular photo opportunity to visitors and is located on Scarborough’s North Bay. The huge proportions of the statue dwarf normal-sized people. The sculpture is based on a retired miner with whom Ray became friends. The miner turned out to also be one of the first soldiers to relieve the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp at the end of the Second World War.

This piece of art is not just about Freddie Gilroy, but represents all the normal people that were pulled out of an ordinary life and forced into a very extraordinary and dangerous one during the world war.

Joyce Kingman - Quick and Easy

Taken from the upper floor at Waterloo Station, this view shows the concourse with people patiently queuing for their train tickets at the self-service machines.

David Ireland - Fancy Dress

Happy participants of the mounted Fancy Dress Competition at this year’s Ryedale Show.

Lynn Wraith - Tourists

These ladies were enjoying the view from the top of a Jaisalmer Fort in India. I thought the back view gave an unusual perspective for a people photograph and shows the variety of vivid colours Indian ladies wear.

Mike Ward - Visitor

This photograph shows the first visitor at the Kirkbymoorside and District Camera Club Exhibition which was held in Helmsley in June this year. He was a great guy who really loved having his photograph taken.

Paul Stephenson - Prommer

This photograph was taken on an iPhone 7, on August 19, 2017, at Castle Howard during the Proms. Where about 4,500 revellers turned up waving as many Union Jacks while singing along to Blake, Joanna Forest and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Sharon Marwood – Saturday Afternoons

The image shows loyal spectators who regularly watch Pickering Cricket Club.
