FOR this month's feature, members of Kirkbymoorside Camera Club tested their skills during a night out in Whitby.

Club chairman Harry Kingman said: "On a Saturday evening, early in April, the Rat Pack Vegas Spectacular was performed at Whitby Pavilion.

"This is a tribute show to the Rat Pack which originally featured Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

"The three singers were accompanied by a small orchestra and two show girls. It was an impressive evening, all the well-known songs were sung, sometimes the audience joined in, the band played with gusto and the girls danced well adding a touch of glamour.

"Normally you are not allowed to take photos at this sort of event, but members of the club were invited to take pictures during the show and afterwards when the performers met their fans.

"We knew it would be challenging, the lighting is harsh, the performers picked out by the spotlights being very bright whereas the background was dark, there was also brilliant magenta and blue LED mood lights producing interesting colour casts.

"We all really enjoyed the show and were grateful for the opportunity to develop our skills in a demanding environment. Moreover, when we reviewed our images we were delighted with the results."
