THIS month’s feature from Malton Camera Club consists of six images from club member Andrew Shaw.

The pictures were taken in September and October last year, when he was lucky enough to be able to travel coast to coast across the USA.

Using a Samsung GX20 Digital SL and a Panasonic Lumix Digital point and shoot, here are a couple of the more iconic pictures and also some of Andrew's favourites from the 4,600 he took on the trip.

1. Lady Liberty - Taken in New York City from a boat in the bay while on a site seeing cruise. This was the start of the trip. ISO 100, focal length 55mm, f/9.5, 1/250sec

2. White roses at Ground Zero - This was a must-see for Andrew. My birthday was the day after the attacks of September 11. The roses signify the birthday of one of the victims of the attacks, they are changed each day by the volunteers who tend the memorial. ISO 100, focal length 23mm, f/5.6, 1/350sec

3. Lincoln Statue - Statue of the famous president Abraham Lincoln, taken in Washington DC. ISO 100, focal length 47mm, f/5.6, 1/60sec

4. Niagara Falls at sunset - Taken from the Canadian side of the falls, from the edge of the town looking across to the US side. ISO 25, f/2.4, 1/30sec

5. Mount Rushmore - The Famous Black Hills monument in South Dakota. There was thick fog the day Andrew arrived, but he was lucky enough to be able to return the following morning so he could see this impressive site. ISO 100, focal length 105mm, f/5.6, 1/180sec

6. An Elk in the mist - Taken early in the morning (between 7.30am and 8am) as he was leaving Yellowstone National Park. This is one of his favourite photos from the trip and one the winners of the club's latest photo competition. ISO 100, focal length 200mm, f/5.6, 1/250sec
