MEMORIES of Malton School from across the world are being revived thanks to a website looking at the school's long history.

Former deputy headteacher Steve Fearnley, who retired two years ago, has taken on the project of overhauling and rewriting The Maltonian

The new site includes over a thousand photographs from the last hundred years, including people, buildings and artefacts, as well as documents ranging from the 1547 Foundation charter to more recent newsletters and books.

A “What’s New” section, has been created listing recent contacts from former staff and students and there is a section about the people who have made up the school over the years with biographies, memories and articles, as well as video footage of plays and events.

Steve said that hopefully the new site was much simpler to navigate than the old one, and took advantage of developments in website techniques.

"Since launching the new site it has been good to hear from former students all over the world – emails have arrived from many parts of Britain as well as from Australia, America, Canada and Peru," he added.

" A Maltonian Facebook page has also been created and has received lots of likes and friends.

Steve said there was still lots of material to add to the site, and new content is posted weekly.

"Just this week I have put on over 40 photographs from plays performed in 1981 and 1983 – prompted by a contact from the teacher who produced the plays, Adrian Everitt, who now lives in Lima, Peru.

"People are still sending photographs and information which I have never seen before."

Steve said love to hear from any former pupils and staff and anyone who could add any details to any of the photographs or stories on the site.

" There are often names missing on old photos, and it would be good to fill in the gaps," he added.
