NORTON’S Christmas tree festival has raised more than £700.
Held at St Peter’s Church, the event included more than 30 trees decorated by different organisations and businesses from the town.
The winning tree was designed by the Tuesday Toddler group with Battleflatt Veterinary practice second and Norton Primary School third.
Reverend Rachel Hirst said more than 600 people had visited the event with donations made to St Peter’s Church, Next Steps and Home-Start Ryedale.
“It was a really good and enjoyable event,” she said. “The whole idea was to get the community together and have fun while raising money and it worked very well.”
Councillor Ray King, mayor of Norton, said: “Thanks goes to all those who took part and got involved.”
