RESIDENTS are being encouraged to recycle with the return of the popular ‘Give or Take’ days.

Community groups in Malton, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering are hosting three events in October and early November to support Ryedale District Council’s Choose2Reuse campaign, The Quakers (Society of Friends) are hosting their Give or Take Day at the Friends Meeting House, Greengate, Malton on Saturday, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

In Kirkbymoorside, the town’s Environment Group is holding their event at the Memorial Hall on Sunday, October 26, from 9am to noon, while Ryedale Lions Club, together with Pickering and District Civic Society, will be at the Memorial Hall in Pickering on Saturday, November 2, from 9am to 12.30pm.

Give or Take days. which have been run for five years, are fun, community waste exchange events giving people the chance to pass on household items, such as clothing or items of furniture, or to pick up something they need.

A spokesperson for Ryedale District Council said: “If you have too much clutter, it’s time to have a clear-out and provide others with a chance to pick up items they might not be able to afford.

“A lot of good re-usable items end up being discarded but could easily be re-used. ‘Give or Take’ days are ideal for people on tight household budgets. There’s a chance to pick up much-needed household items and save a bit of money at the same time.
