FARMING charity, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) North Yorkshire committee, held its first annual golf day at Kirkbymoorside Golf Club.

RABI is a grant-making charity which helps farming people of all ages if they are in financial difficulty. Support is confidential and includes one-off or regular payments, funding for things like essential household items, specialist equipment, relief farm staff, home-help and care costs.

A shotgun start opened the event and Paige Dalby, from McClarrons, who presented the prizes, said: “Thirteen teams entered for a very successful day, including many corporate teams. It is so important to support the farmers and farm workers in North Yorkshire so to have an event in such is beautiful rural setting is perfect.”

Just under £1,000 was raised for the charity and the winning team on the day was Moneyweb Misfits with a score of 87 points, with McClarrons Second Team coming second place and East Riding Raiders taking third place.

Sally Conner, RABI regional manager for the North East said: “I would like to thank everybody who has supported and sponsored this event as well as all the players. I would also particularly like to thank McClarrons Insurance from Malton who have been instrumental in organising this day.”
